TikTok

Starfish has two TikTok connections:

  • TikTok Organic -- your clients' TikTok accounts: profile, videos, comments, statistics and publishing.
  • TikTok Ads -- your TikTok advertising accounts: campaigns, audiences, creatives and reports.

TikTok Organic

Connect as many client accounts as you need. Starfish works with one account at a time and only with the account you name.

How to Connect

  1. Open Marketplace (the store icon in the left rail) and find TikTok Organic.
  2. Open it and choose Connect account.
  3. TikTok opens in your browser. Sign in to the client's TikTok account and approve.
  4. Repeat for each client. You sign in to each account once.

Starfish keeps every sign-in encrypted on your Mac and renews it automatically.

Your Accounts

The accounts list shows each account with its name, @username, the date you connected it, and what it allows (Profile, Analytics, Posts, Comments, Publishing).

  • Active -- the account is ready to use.
  • Needs sign-in again -- choose Sign in again and sign in to that account in your browser.
  • Rename -- give the account a name you will use in chat, such as the client's name.
  • Disconnect -- Starfish deletes its saved sign-in for that account from your Mac. You can connect it again at any time.

What You Can Do

  • Profile and statistics -- followers, views, likes, comments, shares and profile views, day by day
  • Videos -- list videos and see the statistics for each one
  • Comments -- read comments and replies, comment, and reply
  • Hide comments -- hide a comment or show it again
  • Publish -- publish videos and photos, and check how publishing is going

What Asks First

Commenting, replying, hiding comments and publishing act publicly as the account. Your approval setting (Ask for approval, Approve for me or Full access) decides whether Starfish waits for your OK before each one.

Starfish never deletes a comment unless you ask it to or say yes.

Choosing the Account in Chat

  • Name one client and Starfish uses only that account.
  • Say "all" or "compare A and B" and Starfish uses those accounts without asking.
  • Misspell a name and Starfish asks one short question: "Did you mean ...?" After you say yes, it remembers your answer for the rest of the chat.
  • Automations must name the account in the prompt. An automation never asks a question; if the account is missing or unclear, it stops and tells you to edit the automation.

Example Prompts

  • "Give me a performance report for Longview Chamber for the last 30 days"
  • "Compare video views for Longview Chamber and Torani this month"
  • "Show the latest comments on Torani's newest video"
  • "Hide that comment on Longview Chamber's video"

Notes

  • Statistics need Analytics turned on in the TikTok app for that account.
  • TikTok allows 40 requests per minute per account. If you hit the limit, wait a minute and try again.
  • TikTok asks you to sign in to each account again once a year. The account shows Needs sign-in again when it is time.

TikTok Ads

How to Connect

  1. Open Marketplace (the store icon in the left rail) and find TikTok Ads.
  2. Click Connect and choose an access level:
    • Read only -- view accounts, campaigns, audiences, creatives and reports.
    • Read + Write -- also create and update TikTok Ads data. Deleting still needs you to ask for and confirm the exact action.
  3. TikTok opens so you can approve your Business Center and advertising accounts.

Reports per Client

  • Name one client and Starfish reports on that advertiser only.
  • Say "all" and Starfish compares every connected advertiser, labelled per account.
  • When it is unclear which advertiser you mean, Starfish asks one short question before it fetches anything.
  • Automations must name the advertiser in the prompt.

Example Prompts

  • "TikTok ads report for Torani for the last 30 days"
  • "Compare spend across all my TikTok ad accounts this month"
