Quick Start

Get from zero to your first AI-powered action in under five minutes.

1. Install the app

Download and install Starfish following the Installation guide.

2. Create your account

Launch Starfish. The setup wizard opens automatically. Continue with Google, or create an account with your email and a password and confirm it from your inbox.

3. Connect your AI access

Starfish uses Vercel AI Gateway to connect to LLMs like Claude, GPT, Gemini, and other models through a unified routing layer.

1. Go to vercel.com and create an account if you don't have one.
2. Generate an API key from your AI Gateway settings.
3. Paste it into the setup wizard.

Your key is stored on your Mac — in the Keychain when available, with encrypted local storage as the fallback.

4. Make it yours (optional)

Tell Starfish your company and role, and how brief or detailed you like replies. These become preferences it remembers; you can edit or turn them off later in Settings → Personalization. You can skip this step.

5. Connect your first app

The wizard shows the apps you can connect. We recommend starting with Google Workspace or ClickUp — they cover email, calendar, docs, and task management out of the box.

You can connect more apps at any time from the Marketplace in the sidebar.

6. Start chatting

You're in. Type a message in the chat and your assistant will respond using the tools you've connected.
