The Settings → Storage tab lets you see and clean up the generated images and videos Starfish keeps on your Mac. Generated media is the main thing that grows over time, so this is where you reclaim space.

What it shows

A summary at the top tells you the total space generated media is using and how many items there are. Below it, a grid shows every stored item with:

• A preview thumbnail (previews load as you scroll, so the page stays light even with a large library).
• The item's size.
• The date it was created. Items older than 30 days are tagged in amber.
• A "ref" tag on reference images you attached as inputs (vs. the generated output).

Items whose chat has already been deleted are marked orphaned — they're pure leftover data and safe to remove.

Deleting media

There are two ways to clean up:

• Multi-select — click any tiles to select them, then Delete selected. The button shows how many items and how much space you'll free.
• Delete older than 30 days — one click removes everything created more than 30 days ago, plus any orphaned items. It shows the count and size, then asks you to confirm.

Deletion is irreversible, so both paths confirm first.

What deleting does (and doesn't do)

Deleting only removes the media bytes. The conversation it belonged to stays intact — the chat text remains; the image or video simply shows as unavailable afterward. Your other data (chats, documents, agents, knowledge files) is untouched.

Where this media lives

Generated images and videos are stored locally on your Mac (in the app's data, not in the cloud). That's why they can accumulate, and why clearing them here frees real disk space. Uploaded knowledge files and agent files are managed separately under Workspace and on each agent.
